Logo Eselbe Camp Nata Botswana

Do you like a laid-back and familiar atmosphere where you can easily socialise with other travellers? Are you an adventurer, a cyclist or a biker, on the road with your own car, or a backpacker travelling using public transport? Or are you looking for a relaxed weekend getaway to recharge your batteries?

No matter which mode of transport you are using, if you are on a long-term adventure or on a shorter trip, Eselbe Camp Backpackers in Nata may be the perfect place for you.

We offer all kinds of accommodation and we are certain there will be the right one for you.

WE ARE LOCATED IN NATA, BOTSWANA

Nata is the gateway town to Eastern Botswana, with access to the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, well known for its elephants, giraffes and ostriches that can be seen from the roadside. Eselbe Camp is the perfect stopover if you are on your way to Maun to visit the Okavango Delta or Kasane to visit the Chobe National Park.

Nata offers you one of the Top 10 Activities in Botswana: Every year thousands of flamingos and pelicans gather in their breeding grounds at the Nata Bird Sanctuary, only a 20 minutes' drive away from Eselbe Camp.

Eselbe Camp is directly located along the banks of the Nata River, offering scenic views and tranquil surroundings, amazing birdlife and in the evening stargazing by the fireside.

THE CAMP

Central to the camp is a fire pit, where you can easily meet other guests from around the world, share stories and adventures and enjoy open-air cooking. Next to the fire pit and Braai/BBQ facilities you will find a big dining table where we like to enjoy our food together with our guests and exchange cooking techniques and travel tips.

If you just want to relax, you can either make yourself comfortable in one of our hammocks or enjoy our sofas in the lounge area - either way, you can stay connected as there is wifi access throughout the camp. If you need a break from being online, you can enjoy a good book or just listen to the sound of nature and the singing of all the many birds in & around the camp.

Aside from free use of our canoes for our guests, we also have some board games, a volleyball court, badminton and the golf challenge.

We are an ecological campsite running on solar power and we support recycling & zero-waste ideas. We live in harmony with the nature and the wildlife thus we want to reduce our impact on the environment as much as possible.

We camped in our own tent at Eselbe, very nice quiet site with good facilities and option to us the kitchen for cooking.
The host Rupert is very accommodating, he even went on a beer run for us.
Rupert gives you the option to eat with him and the other guests in the evening around the communal table. This is a must for travellers to share stories and then sit around the camp fire with a night cap.
Overall this site is excellent and an ideal stop of when travelling North or South through Botswana.

Eselbe is a fantastic campsite and a really unique place in Botswana. The feel and vibe is very pleasant, like that of a backpackers hostel, which you won’t find in many other places in Botswana. The accommodation is comfortable and well priced. I stayed here on 3 separate occasions over the last year and had a great time each time.

Rupert does his very best to make you feel welcome and ensures you will have a good time. I joined on a daylong canoeing trip along the Nata river which was nothing short of amazing. The area is beautiful and we had a fun day on the river. I can highly recommend Eselbe!

I been to many of the premium safari lodges in Botswana where you pay up to 1000 dollar pp. Eselbe Camp is another thing - it’s a cool, funky and vintage place with an exclusive location by the Nata river where canoes are waiting for you to use and explore bird life and the life among the locals at the old Nata bridge where the children fish.

Eselbe Camp had a genuine personal touch - Mr Rubert - the host, cooked nicely and shared stories and took you out for walks a long the river.
